I hope everyone had a great holiday? If you are in the USA you are probably getting hammered by black Friday/cyber Monday ad’s (in your e-mails, tv commercials, text messages, news papers, computer screens, etc.) The truth is unless you have been REALLY good about your holiday shopping you may be like me! Needing to get things now and up til the last minute. This little charm can be used to help you find the perfect gifts at affordable prices, for everyone you need to buy for! There are a couple of things to keep in mind:

  1. Go to stores that are in your budget! Seriously if you can’t afford a store- no spell will help you get over that.
  2. Try really hard to spend money you have and not place things on credit. I know in some cases this won’t be possible but do your best to keep the amount low that goes on the credit cards.
  3. Have a clear idea of what your budget is! You don’t need to break it down to each person to the penny, but do know the MAX amount of money you are willing to spend on the holidays, and have a rough idea of the allotment for each person. I will spend more on my son than my parents & friends. So for me it’s 50% to my son, 25% for my parents and 25% for my friends.
  4. Keep in mind the traditional meaning of the holidays, it’s not about gifts but about love & family. Come from a place of love and you can’t go wrong.

Items Needed:

  • A green pen or marker
  • a piece of paper- a sheet of printer paper will do.
  • crushed or powdered cinnamon
  • a tea-light candle or a chime candle
  • matches or a lighter
  • A square of cloth
  • A green ribbon or string (embroidery floss is okay here).

Timing: Whenever shopping needs to get done!

Gather your required ingredients, and set up a space that is pleasant but practical for you, there is no need to go all out on this little charm unless you choose too.  You may also wish to prepare yourself as well, this is a good way to start off on a clean slate.

On the piece of paper at the top in bold letters write out the amount of money you have to spend on gifts. This is in green bold letters. Underneath in the center (be sure to leave room to write around the edges of the paper) write out the people you have to buy for, preferably in order of importance. As I mentioned above my son is my biggest expense so he would go at the top.

When you have crafted your list, around the outside of the paper write this charm:

Tyche♦ Goddess of chance, help me with the shopping dance, bargains and sales are all i’ll find, specialty gifts and one of a kind. The perfect gift for all I need, I know that you will help me succeed. My budget is set in stone and clear,  just what i need you draw near.

Light your green candle and say out-loud the chant above.  Drip some wax on the four corners of the paper, then quickly sprinkle some cinnamon on top. Take the paper and begin to fold it towards you, symbolically bringing it towards you, fold it 3, 6, or 9 times, whichever will make it small enough to find on the square of cloth. Place the folded paper on the square of cloth and sprinkle some more cinnamon on top. Take up the edges of the cloth and form a bundle. Tie up the edges with the green ribbon or floss. Place it in front of the burning candle let this sit there until the candle has burn out completely. Then place the charm bag inside your purse or pocket as you go out and begin holiday shopping.
